LUP= Lift Upgrading Programme
this year, keat Hong Constituency brought in the Singapore CHar Siew Baos to give some LUP to the residents.
The more the merrier – that was the policy the Singapore char siew baos adhered to when they planned a show for this year’s CNY celebrations at the Esplanade Water front.
Apart from just four of them, they invited SOnny’s percussion group Tribal Fusion, Japanese guitar Kuge Kiyosaki, LSK, Elvin Yeo, Boey and Peter Diaz on stage for their performances.
Here are some photos:

spot Hong Ming who was also invited up on stage (planned of course) to perform a song!
The SCSB are still in action, just in case you are wondering. Hot and steamy as usual.
For RHB’s anniversary on 28 October, planned by ALcotrad, the quartet met their old friend The Flying Dutchman, from One Moment of Glory.
The entertainment-packed night had the audience glued to the stage with light-laser shows, dances and of course, live entertainment.
Finally we get to celebrate a national day ‘real’ civil service style. This year, Red Kite was given the honour to organise the NDOC for the departments at the Treasury building, which includes Accountant General’s Department, Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Trade and Industry amongst some others. MTI was the organising committee and had picked us to roll out the entertainment for them.
the concept this year, was to feature musical performances and of cozz, this is what Red Kite does best. We set the right people for the stage – the Singapore Char Siew Baos! i simply cant resist connecting them to all national and patriotic themed events, who can blame me? The Baos are backed up by musicians Jeremy Yeo on drums, James Yeo on bass and Sharon Nunis on keys, of whom were all darlings because they helped chart out the national days songs.
Rima Rasif was our special guest performer. Bringing my favourite legend back on stage was not a difficult decision, plus Rima has all the stage talk and moves to rouse the crowd.
Turns out, it was a super fun event!! i was nearly moved to tears by seeing my fellow country people decked out in red and singing their hearts out to the national day songs and was so happy to see the VIPS – Deputy Prime Ministers Teo Chee Hean and Tharman Shamugaratnam, MTI minister Mr Lim Hng Kiang, amongst others such as Mr Peter Ong (Head of civil service) cheering along and appreciating the music.

Always promising a better party, SOUL by the Black And White Lifestyle Group has engaged their first resident band, Singapore Char Siew Baos!
Boosting the strong vocals of Ruby, saxophonist Dominique and guitarists, Jason and Jacob, Singapore Char Siew Baos shot to fame recently after appearing on national television in One Moment of Glory (OMG) on Medicorp’s Channel 5. Formerly, a resident band of Jewelbox located atop the scenic Mount Faber, the Baos have found their new residence at Soul’s dark and mysterious Black And White.
Located at Odeon Towers, SOUL is the latest visual and audio playground for clubbers officially launched in early 2011. Before embarking on a night of trance and house beats at Black And White, Singapore Char Siew Baos will be bringing up the crowd with their music spanning across many genres including Top 40s, Pop, Rock and Jazz.
Want to catch them live? Head on to Soul’s Black And White on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights from 8.30pm till late!
On 1 April, Elitc invited over 200 guests to commemorate their 25 years of training.
Alex Tan was the master of ceremony. He begun the evening with an original song called ‘Reach for the Stars’ which was written specially for Elitc’s theme this year, Rewind Reinvent Reach!
The Guest of Honor was Mr Ong Ye Kung.
From the top English hits on the local airwaves to all-time Mandarin and Hokkien favorites, there was no doubt that The Singapore Char Siew Baos brought up the spirits of all guests, which included both young and old folks, as they enjoyed their sumptuous dinner.
One of the highlights of the evening was marked by salsa dancers from Attitude Studio who demonstrated how smooth moves can be executed by a fine choreography. Mentored by Gupson Pierre, his first pair of ladies enthralled the audience with their graceful body maneuvers. Later, a salsa couple flaunts some sensual moves which truly spiced up the occasion.
IndoChine CARES is an IndoChine’s initiative in collaboration with Red Cross Society to raise funds for the survivors of the recent disaster that struck Japan. Held on the grounds of IndoChine’s The Forbidden City, funds were raised through an auction which included paintings by famous Asian artists, travel packages and Singapore Char Siew Baos!
Just pulling your leg about the last one… Singapore Char Siew Baos was the local band who played their part in IndoChine CARES through their honorary performance!

With spirited vocals, guitars and saxophone, Singapore Char Siew Baos is a beautiful blend of musicians who filled The Forbidden City with an evening of soothing tunes, and towards the end, rather feisty covers such as Lady Gaga’s Bad Romance.
With Jacob (guitarist) leading on vocals for the cover of Money Can’t Buy Me Love, SCSB started the evening with a list of lighthearted songs.
Ruby (lead vocalist) revealed some of her thick and smooth vocals with the heartwarming cover of Close To You, originally by The Carpenters. With her strong yet gentle vocal projection of the classic Carpenter hit, it was one of my favorite covers for the evening.
Younger folks would definitely know how to appreciate this cover of Lucky.
Ruby demonstrates one of her most impressive vocal covers in Dream, originally by The Cranberries. Somehow, the song also matched with the architectural mystic of The Forbidden City.
Jason (guitarist) certainly gave the recent R&B hit, Billionaire, a local nudge, while Dominic (saxophonist) adapted it into such a classy tune with his saxophone, an instrument which seldom finds its place among local bands like SCSB.
The auction was a huge success! IndoChine and Red Kite sincerely thank Singapore Char Siew Baos for their generous volunteering time. We truly hope we made a difference for the survivors of the Japanese disaster.
Ganbette, Japan!
So, my series of events and sequencing are a bit screwed up, but I need to do my musicians and events justice anyway. So smack! Here you go.
Alex & Angeline hired the now famous Singapore Char Siew Baos (if you haven’t realised that they appear on your TV set each week for One Moment of Glory, for which I regrettably had no time to blog about – despite having made an awesome placard for their live shows).
Back to normalcy, here they are, still gigging for Red Kite.
(I must say they are more fashionably sensitive now, looking good, y’all, this is one of the good things media does to you right?)
couple in action
Red Kite’s second show at Miles & Theodore! 71 Amoy St, home to Mussoni, featuring Italian designed bed linen, towels, cushions etc. This time round, it’s a collaboration between San Pellegrino and Mussoni.
Musicians are Ruby & Jacob, bringing the ambience up a notch as the crowd admire visual art, taste fine sparkling water and listen to soft jazzy music.
