The Five Days at Shangri-la with Dylan Foster’s trio and J’adore

I’m jumping the gun – the five days haven’t ended, but I’m getting excited so I’m sharing the photos and videos with you. Spread out for the later part of March, BTI (Korean conference company) organised a five days of retreat for five different groups of Koreans. Each night, the entertainment stays roughly the same, though not quite.

J’adore, the ladies quartet – provides for dinner entertainment. They make me realise that classical music isn’t boring, its delightful and could be a perfect accompaniment for food and wine. The ladies themselves of course, look great and are a joy to watch.

Dylan Foster, entertainer and jazz singer, groups with Mei or Wei on keys and Pablo on his neat percussion kit, brings some swing and pop to the guests as an after dinner show. I say its a show because it’s not quite Dylan to become background music. His personality stands out and theres no way you can ignore him and continue your dinner, simply because he tries to engage you, be it in song or dance.

So far, the Koreans love them. Dylan is always swamped by the Korean ladies after each show, all requesting photos with him. Each night, there is always an encore. The whole ballroom magically chants ‘ENCORE!’ after Dylan ‘threatens’ to leave the stage. Dylan handles it with a bit of coy and eventually accedes. How could he not? EVERYBODY was asking for another song. Hard to be popular eh? J’adore always leaves with loud applause lining their exit. Koreans are very appreciative and supportive people!

There’s three more nights to go. I’m sure each time, I will be taken by surprise. The guests danced themselves away the first night, the quieter bunch lingered on late for photos on the second. What will come for the rest? Pleasant surprises await.

Victor & Daphne Tie the Knot

18 March was a special day for newlyweds VIctor & Daphne as they tied the knot at Shangri La Hotel Singapore. The couple resides in Adelaide and has an awesome daddy who took care of everything before they needed to come back and finalise the details. known as Michael or ‘Uncle Chia’, he carefully picked ShiLi & Adi with Melvin for the dinner banquet and the Los Pintos as pre-dinner entertainment.

Here are some highlights:

RHB packs some Dim Sum for entertainment

The SCSB are still in action, just in case you are wondering. Hot and steamy as usual.

For RHB’s anniversary on 28 October, planned by ALcotrad, the quartet met their old friend The Flying Dutchman, from One Moment of Glory.

The entertainment-packed night had the audience glued to the stage with light-laser shows, dances and of course, live entertainment.

Woooh Hup~!

Okay, that was meant to sound like ‘whaat up’.

Red Kite worked with Voxgroup to bring about live music entertainment for the guests at the Woh Hup Subcontractors Annual Appreciation Dinner @ Shangri La Hotel

The Basics started the first instrumental set with just Weinian, Jeremy and Samuel. The second set, a more vibrant one late in the evening, feature Ariel Lee on vocals.

Wedding of Ee How & Lifeng

Gabriel & Sharon performed Canon in D for the couple who loved traditions. It was held in Shangri-La’s Waterfall Terrace.

After we moved to the Tower ballroom, where Juliet, Sharon, Shawn & Eddie Jansen were performing, a little girl came up and wanted to sing. Talk about having what it takes to be a star.

A friend of the groom mom did an item for them, called “yue liang dai biao wo de xin”.

Action-packed Wedding

The Wedding Concierge allowed us to witness what we would describe as an action packed wedding, because there were shaolin monks breaking wood and throwing each other around in the middle of the ballroom. Of course, the music element was injected prior to and after this to provide the standard dinner entertainment for the guests, which they indubitably enjoyed as well.

Featuring Imelda, Wah Yong & James. And I bumped into Jeremy again, the very talented billingual emcee.
