We were invited by Essential Venture to bring on some jazz entertainment for CIMB preferred customers. I’m sure many of which were excited to make their virgin trip to the Fullerton Bay Hotel.
We had Corey Manders on sax, Willie on Bass and Aynslee on keys.
My good friend Crystin Chiam called me for a jazz band for and event that she’s helping out with. She roped in Daniel Ong to be the emcee and I presented her with – Imelda & the Oreos – that was what they were called that night.
It was a first. We had 7 sessionists and Shi Li on vocals who were more than 10 metres across the room of each other play together as a band. Kudos to these jolly good fellows who made it work!
Ed&C engaged Red Kite to perform for the clients of OCBC’s Enterprise Banking. Held at the Resorts World, the turnout was close to a 1,000 people, all eager to be at the new IR while it’s carpets are still fresh and not destroyed by trampling.
There were also dancers and this fancy water dancing act. It was an acrobat who pulled it off, no ordinary dancer could have done it!
Here’s a few pictures of what went on through the night.
Here’s half the band.
Take a look at the intro piece (dont get giddy, I had to repeatedly swerve 360 degrees to focus the camera on the next musician)
Good times can last for pretty long durations of time. The CNY festivities is still up in the air, and that is why I’ve more to share with you.
Here’s greeting you with the head of a lion
“guuung xi fa caiii,” it growls.
Now we’re talking about the bare essentials: a totally white backdrop, a concrete floor and a jazz band clad in black.
Ok, this place is Klapson Hotel. Don’t judge the place by my pictures – a poor representation of it. It’s a pretty neat place, and the receptionists sit in a capsule. Satisfy curiosity here http://www.klapsons.com/
Here’s Juliet on vocals, Brandon on double bass, Clarence on guitar
Thanks to Samston, Red Kite & our favourite Singapore Char Siew Baos, featuring guest bassist Jase had been invited to perform at Ritz Carlton for a coupla Japanese and locals guests under Mitsubitshi.
T’was a fairly simple night. Jazz standards – instrumental and with vocals.
Citco held its year end party at the Diamond Palace at The Jewelbox on 18 December. Audionauts was chosen as the band for the night. they didnt make a bad decision – everyone was dancing by the first set.
All jazz musicians wished they can play ‘real jazz’ and ‘real swing’. This was one night we had fun doing that. OCBC enterprise banking hired ed&c which in turned hired Red Kite to present Paige (her band’s Birdland Jazz Band) to bring “All that Jazz” numbers for the night.
It was themed, ladies had to wear feathered hats and sip on champagne glasses while keeping their inner avarice monsters from showing while watching their bets run wild on the race track.
We had Bruno on keys, Paige on vox, Douglas on bass and Hendri on percussions.
